Happy Thanksgiving From Office Space Toronto

By Office Space TorontoIn standard8th October, 2012

On Behalf of the management and staff of Telsec, we hope you had great Thanksgiving weekend.

Thanksgiving is celebrated each year on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. This often confuses many of our American office space Toronto clients when we are celebrating Thanksgiving on a Monday in October, when they know it as a Thursday in November. The question that is often asked is: why are they held on different dates?

The reason for the earlier Thanksgiving celebrations in Canada has often been attributed to the earlier onset of winter in the north, thus ending the harvest season earlier. In fact Thanksgiving in Canada did not have a fixed date until the late 19th century. Much like in Canada, Thanksgiving in the United States was observed on various dates throughout history and it was not until December 26, 1941, that the official U.S. date was set at the fourth Thursday in November.

Telsec’s reception may be closed today for the holiday, but clients still have access to their office space. This is true every day of the year.
